I have been searching through the paper again for any mention of the church activities.  The first article I found was in The Danville Bee, the April 2, 1953 edition.

Food Sale At Gretna Will Benefit Church

Gretna, April 1-The women of Gretna Christian Church will sponsor a food sale Saturday at the Central Motor Company in Gretna.  Proceeds will go to the building fund for the parsonage.

The second article was in the Danville Register Sunday June 27, 1963

The C.W.F. of Gretna Christian Church held a meeting Monday evening at the church.  Mrs. Bob Neal, outgoing president, installed the new officers.  They are:  Mrs. Eric Dalton, president; Mrs. Robert Eastham, vice-president; Mrs. Herndon Custer, secretary and Mrs. Bob Neal, treasurer.

Mrs. Donald Morrison was presented a friendship quilt made by the women of the church, inscribed with their names and the children of the church in needlepoint.  Mrs. Morrison will be leaving Gretna soon with her family for Stilesville, Indiana.

Mrs. Eric Dalton and Mrs. Moncie Dalton were hostesses for the evening.
